Post cataract scheme – Royal Berkshire Hospital Trust

19 November 2020

Post Cataract Scheme Launch

Early 2021 will see the launch of a post cataract scheme available to all patients in  East and West Berkshire who undergo uncomplicated cataract surgery at either the Royal Berkshire Hospital or King Edward VII Hospital.

The launch date will be confirmed as soon as it is received, but to be eligible to participate, there are plenty of things to get ready. In preparation please ensure you are ready with what’s needed:

  • QIO – including subcontractor to PES: documentation needed This includes the completion of the DSPT toolkit. Please see the onboarding preparation tutorial which provides guidance, or get in touch if you have any issues or questions relating to this.
  • WOPEC accreditation. Please request your code here if you need to complete this course
  • Opera IT

Opera IT Update

Opera Registration and Onboarding

The new Opera onboarding platform has been finalised on schedule, and we are now commencing onboarding practices onto the new system. A phased approach is being taken so you may not receive an invitation to onboard immediately; please wait to receive your invitation. We ask that you do not forward your registration invitation on to other practices as the invitations are personalised for each practice.
Once we have processed the majority of MECS practices, the next priority will be Practices that do not deliver MECS but do deliver Glaucoma and Pre and Post Cataract services. Finally, we will then invite the few Practices who deliver other services not already mentioned above.

We expect the majority of Practices to therefore be fully onboarded on to Opera by mid-December.

Onboarding Preparation

We want to take this opportunity to remind you of the documentation required to complete both Practice and Practitioner onboarding on to Opera. Please ensure you have all the documentation ready on a PDF format before commencing the registration process so you can easily upload and complete the application.
