Launch of the Eye Care Hub Website

1 September 2021

The national eye care recovery and transformation programme (NECRTP) team has launched a new website, the Eye Care Hub, on NHS Futures.

This is an eyecare-specific site which contains a comprehensive set of information, guidance, and a wide range of materials to support systems, providers, and professionals in implementing the NHS England recovery guidance on improving eye care services.

It contains simple to use guidance, step by step advice, numerous case studies and example materials such as pathways, protocols, patient leaflets, and more which will help the eye care world improve their services more rapidly. It provides information on learning events past and future and allows discussion forums to join up those delivering or overseeing eyecare across England for mutual support and learning.

LOCSU interim clinical director Zoe Richmond said:

“The hub is for anyone involved in eye care transformation and so is of interest to LOC members, all primary care professionals providing extended primary care services and those interested in service development. I would encourage all LOCs to identify at least one committee member to join the eye care hub. Registration is needed to gain access to the hub, which can take a few days, but there is the option to “self-register” for those with an NHS email.”

LOCSU will be attending the upcoming regional LOC Forums to discuss the new eye care hub to explain the opportunities this presents to primary care optometry, in the meantime LOCs can contact their LOCSU optical lead team for more information.

You can access the hub here: Eye Care Hub – FutureNHS Collaboration Platform when you do look out for ‘getting started’, ‘primary care optometry’, and the ‘optometry First Toolkit’.
