Updating ‘My Services’ on OPERA

20 July 2023

Please see update below sent to all Berkshire practices – 19th of July

Dear Practice,

We have been made aware that some practices are receiving referrals from cross border practices even though the service is not commissioned in their area.

The reason for this is because practices can still provide the services to patients from neighbouring areas as long as the patient is registered with a GP in an area where the service is commissioned. However, some practices have expressed that they would not like to provide these services and do not understand why they are receiving these referrals.

Please could you check which services are selected on your practices ‘My Services’ section on OPERA. The reason why practices are receiving these referrals is because they have the service switched on. The ‘My Services’ dashboard can be found under the ‘General’ tab on the main OPERA landing page as below:

To remove the service, please select ‘withdraw from service’ as shown below. This will also ensure that the practice is not showing on our website.

OPERA has launched this function in line with an internal update, during which our ‘Directory of Services’ has been automated.

We would urge all practices to visit their ‘My Services’ page as soon as possible to ensure that the services listed do indeed reflect the services they provide and, if any changes are required, to process the request using the appropriate options on the ‘My Services’ dashboard.

N.B. If requesting to withdraw from a service that your practice is currently delivering, please contact hello@referral.support to ensure that patients are managed safely and the appropriate notice period can be served.

Internal Referrals

The internal referral will appear on your clinical dashboard under the ‘Internal Referrals’ tab.

On the ‘Manage Referrals’ page they will have a blue status tab.

Please accept these internal referrals and proceed to examine the patients if you are happy to provide this service. Guidance on how to do this can be found here.

Further Support

To support Practices to utilise this function, we have created a dedicated help page in the OPERA help menu, you can view this here:

My Services Help Page

Please use this help page as your first port of call to navigate the ‘My Services’ dashboard. Should you need further assistance after visiting this site, please feel free to contact us on the OPERA help bubble hosted on the OPERA home page.

Kind regards,
Primary Eyecare
