Important Update: Buckinghamshire Community Ophthalmology Service
23 October 2023
We are pleased to advise that we are now starting to book clinics for the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Community Ophthalmology service.
As a result of the delays to the commencement of the new service, we are partnering with an Independent Sector provider (18 Weeks Support) to assist with some concentrated initial activity for those patients that were transferred to us from Operose and are over-due their follow up. We will therefore be running clinics from Wycombe Hospital each weekend between now (starts 21st October) and Christmas.
During this time, we will also start our new ‘business as usual’ clinics at Buckingham Community Hospital and Chalfont & Gerrards Cross Hospital in December, with more slots coming on-line from January.
For short-notice clinics we will be calling patients to check availability, then as we book further this will be done via letter. For those patients we hold a mobile telephone number for, we will be able to send them a link to the Patient Portal, which allows them to manage their appointment and review appointment details and access a map. In the near future we will also be aligning this service to the Trust text reminders which allow patients to confirm, decline or re-schedule their appointments.
There is a call centre number for patients on the wating list for the service: 01296 322110. This open 09.00-16.30 Mon-Friday with a voicemail facility for patients out of hours.
I hope that you and more importantly our patients will find this welcoming news.
