Wet AMD is not an emergency but should be referred, on the same day that you see and diagnose the patient, to a dedicated FAST TRACK Wet AMD clinic where they should be seen within two weeks of referral. Wherever possible you should try to obtain proof of delivery (either by requesting a delivery/read receipt on emails, or by phoning the co-ordinator).

Also note that hospitals on occasions reject wet AMD referrals if the patient’s GP is not in the correct area.
