Please follow this procedure when referring to CDDFT.

Wet ARMD pathway

Patients should be advised that they will be telephoned by the servce who will offer an appointment in the next two weeks. If the service has not made contact in this time frame they should get in touch with the referring clinician to alert them that no contact has been made.

Urgent Referrals

Patients with urgent referrals sent to the CDDFT urgent mailbox (either via Opera or NHS.net) should be advised they will contacted by the service in the next 48 hours (sooner if you have been advised by the on call doctor). If the service has not made contact with the patient in this timeframe they should contact their referring clinician to alert them that no contact has been made.

Diabetic Eye Screening Programme

Diabetic patients attending Optical practice for routine sight tests, where there is a suspicion of worsening diabetic eye related problems should be directed to the Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (DESP) in the first instance, to request an invitation ahead of their scheduled recall date, if required the service will refer the patient to Ophthalmology if required.
