Expression of Interest

13 March 2024

NW London ICB is commissioning an Optometry led Community Eye Care Service for all NW London GP patients, through a tender process.

The service will be available to patients registered with a GP in the boroughs of Harrow, Brent, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, and Westminster.

The NW London Service will comprise:

  • a Community Eye Service  (similar to MECS)
  • Pre-cataract assessment
  • Glaucoma referral filtering – glaucoma repeat readings and enhanced case finding

Primary Eyecare Services (PES) is a not-for-profit national optometry organisation set up by LOCs to provide community and primary eye care services through networks of optometry practices. It is the preferred provider company of the four NW London Local Optical Committees and will bid to deliver the NW London Community Eye Care Service as Lead Provider. PES are currently providing services in Westminster, as well as in neighbouring SW London and NC London.

As part of work to develop a tender in NW London, PES are now seeking expressions of interest from NW London optometry practices to provide the services.

If your practice is interested in providing any or all of the services, please complete and submit the short form below as soon as possible and by Wednesday 20th March at the latest. If you have more than one practice, please complete a separate form for each practice.

Further information about practice and practitioner accreditation required to provide services and service fees will follow at a later date.

The NW London services are planned to start in the autumn of this year and will be introduced in a phased way across boroughs.

If you have questions, please email Primary Eyecare Services. The email address is hello@referral.support .

best wishes
