VCHP Volunteers

Calling all optometrists and assistants/DOs in the Brighton area!
Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) is a charity providing free eye care services and glasses to homeless people, who are often unable to access this care for themselves. Our services are provided by qualified volunteer optometrists, supported by Clinic Managers, Dispensing Opticians and Clinic Assistants. Our clinics are funded and regulated by the NHS and we currently run 8 clinics across England with plans to open more. We won a GSK Impact Award for our services in 2020. What we’re looking for….
We are looking for volunteer optometrists and assistants for our Brighton clinic (which runs weekly at First Base Homeless Day Centre from 9:15am – 1pm on a Friday). We don’t ask for a huge commitment as we know people are busy and taking a clinic around once a month would help us to provide a regular eye care service for homeless people in this area.
If you’d like to know more, you can watch our short video which explains the work we do as a charity: VisionCare-73MB | Vision Care (visioncarecharity.org)
If you are interested, please complete a ‘Tell Me More’ form which you can find on our website here. (Scroll to the bottom of the page to see our live vacancies and ‘Tell me more’ forms)
Alternatively, please contact Helen Harms, Manager of Volunteer Operations, for an informal chat: helen.harms@vchp.org.uk
We look forward to hearing from you.
