Optometrist Low Vision Survey – Anglia Ruskin University
Anglia Ruskin University are currently distributing a survey to investigate Optometrists knowledge of the Certification of Visual Impairment process and knowledge of the support available to low vision patients within their area.
The University are planning to use this data to develop Continuing Professional Development and informative articles for Optometrists to help with advising their low vision patients.
Responses would be appreciated as they are trying to get as many responses as possible. Please share this with your colleagues if they are not aware and also let your colleagues know they can email the LOC Business Manager isilk@hampshireloc.org.ukif they would like to be added to the LOC mailing list.

Optometrists Accounts of Communicating with People With Aphasia (PWA) : A Qualitative Study
Please see below a request from a Speech and Language Therapy student for optometrists to assist with her research project as part of her degree.
My name is Poppy Berringer and I am a third year Speech and Language Therapy student currently studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
I am contacting you today as I am conducting a research project as part of my degree, entitled ‘Optometrists Accounts of Communicating with People With Aphasia (PWA) : A Qualitative Study’. Optometrists must be qualified and working in the UK with clinical experience of working with people with aphasia. They must not have a communication disorder themselves.

Laser Vision Corneal Dystrophies CPD Event – 09 November 2023
Laser Vision Corneal Specialist Mr Nick Maycock is delighted to invite you to an evening CPD event on Thursday 9th November at the NAAFI Cafe in Winchester. Drop in from 6pm to catch up with colleagues, have a drink and some snacks, then from 6.30pm join Nick as he demystifies Corneal Dystrophies and takes you through modern management options (including DSEK vs DMEK) when medical intervention is needed.
There will also be plenty of time for a stimulating discussion and to ask questions.
