Pre – Reg Placement Request Summer 2025

The LOC has received a request from a final year optometry student who is re-locating to the Portsmouth area in Summer 2025 and is looking for a Pre – Reg placement.

If you are willing and able to take on a pre – reg student next year please email me,  isilk@hampshireloc.org.uk and I will share their CV with you, so that you can take to the next stage.

Practice Plus CPD Dinner – 20 November 2024

The CPD Dinner event will be held on the 20th of November at 6:30PM hosted at the Leonardo Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton. This event will give you and the Southampton optoms an opportunity to meet the team from the Hampshire mobile service, book an opportunity to tour the facilities and refresh your knowledge with our AMD Refresher Course, the course is worth 1 CPD point.

Please note that the event registration will be on a first come first served basis, we have only 20 spaces available with some already reserved. We kindly ask you to rsvp as soon as possible by sending your request with your name, GOC number and practice name to myself and I will register your attendance.

This FREE course is presented as a face-to-face lecture, quiz, Q&A session and offers opportunity to speak with AMD specialists. The lecture will focus on diagnosis and management, general Wet AMD knowledge and the layers of the retina. Identifying the common high-risk categories of patients to be aware of, other common causes, thereafter looking at the chain of clinical events leading to the diagnosis of Wet AMD. PPG Medical Director Charles Kanavati, will lead the presentation and discussion and will look at classic consultation process, identifying dietary advice, patient education and clinical diagnosis. This is accompanied by a detailed description of the equipment used to identify Wet AMD.
