Wet AMD is not an emergency but should be referred, on the same day that you see and diagnose the patient, to a dedicated FAST TRACK Wet AMD clinic where they should be seen within two weeks of referral. It is good practice to ask the patient to contact your practice if they haven’t heard in the expected time frame and document this on your record. If a patient contacts you then you should endeavour to chase the referral with the hospital.
The following hospitals in the confederation area accept referrals for patients with GPs in the corresponding area: Some will only accept referrals for patients with GPs in their catchment area.
