EGos Survey, GOS3s, Paper Forms, Independent Prescriber Training And FODO News

23 May 2021

We have 6 items for you today:

  1. eGos survey forwarded to NHSE and PCSE
We had a fantastic response to our recent survey on the PCSE eGOS portal and new forms, thank you. It is clear that there are widespread issues and concerns with many, if not all, aspects of the new system. Your replies have been collated and forwarded to NHSE for discussing with PCSE. As soon as we receive anything back, we will let you know.
  2. PCSE Ophthalmic Bulletin and System Down Time
Further to the above, PCSE have issued an ophthalmic bulletin, HERE, in which they say there will an update to their system on Thursday 13th May, designed to help with the slowness and statement access issues. They advise that the PCSE system will be down from 5pm to midnight on Sunday 9th May and from 7pm to midnight on Thursday 13th May.
  3. Issuing a Take Away GOS 3
As part of their update, PCSE have issued the following guidance on issuing a GOS3 to be taken to another practice:

“We want to remind you that you must print a GOS 3 voucher from PCSE Online to give to a patient to take to another practice. You must do this to comply with the regulations.

Unfortunately, you must not just give the patient the voucher code and authorisation code. A PDF of the GOS 3 form must be printed if the patient wants to take their voucher for dispensing elsewhere.”

They have produced a guide to GOS3s, including advice on printing a voucher to take away, HERE

  4. Completing The New Paper GOS Forms
PCSE have also produced a helpful, printable guide to filling in their paper forms – to view and print this, click HERE.
  5. Training to Become Independent Prescribers
For those optometrists training to become independent prescribers, the GOC has agreed to the College’s proposal for a more flexible approach in fulfilling the hospital clinic sessions required for logbook completion. Further information can be found on the College website, HERE.
  6. FODO News
Is HERE, including several of the points above, a delayed GOS payment update and the GOC’s business plan.

Kind regards
