Electronic Referrals (EeRS) Are Coming!

3 June 2022

Hi all

We are pleased to announce that following a lot of work behind the scenes, we are nearing the launch of an Eye Care Electronic Referral System (EeRS) in the East and North Herts (ENH) CCG area, before expanding into both Herts Valleys and West Essex CCG areas.

The EeRS is very straightforward to use and will enable you to refer directly into different specialities such as cataract, medical retina, glaucoma, etc. There will be the added advantage of requesting ‘advice and guidance’ in most pathways, too, which can then be converted into a referral, if required, to the same hospital trust thus saving time in not having to re-enter all the details. It has also been designed so that you can track your referral, see that it has been accepted and passed on to the booking team.

The system is already successfully in use in other areas of the country and has now been adapted to work in ENH when referring to the ENH Trust (Lister).

Please note: Urgent and emergency referrals will currently still be dealt with as now so please continue to use the referral contacts sheet on the Herts LOC website: HERE.

Referrals to other hospitals, such as Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) or West Herts (Watford), will also continue as now for the time being.

We have created a form, below, for you to express your interest in joining this new, more efficient way of referring patients. We would be grateful if the form could be completed by close of business on Wednesday, 4th May. There is also space on the form to ask questions and for feedback, as the project will be under active development to help ensure it meets the needs of our area.

Engagement sessions, both face to face and online, are being planned to demonstrate the ease of use of this innovative referral system and you will be invited to get involved further as the project develops.

As it is a pre-requisite for onboarding that the practice is Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliant, we are looking into ways of supporting you with this, if required.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING FORM:

Thank you for your interest in this useful, time saving and easy to use service.

Should you have any queries or questions, you can either use the form above or email us at Admin@HertsLOC.org.uk

Kind regards
