Online CPD for OOs & DOs, Webinar, Translation Service and FODO News

1 February 2024

We have 5 items for you today:

  1. eGOS / PCSE changes
As advised in our email last week, there have been changes to eGOS, the process now required when eGOS forms cannot be submitted online, submission of GOS1s (now a 3 month maximum time limit), processing uncollected specs and BVD compensation cases. Please see our previous email, HERE for further information and links to the PCSE guidance.
  2. WOPEC / LOCSU CPD Online Courses for Optoms and DOs

Many Optometrists will be aware of the excellent online courses provided by WOPEC and funded by LOCSU as part of the LOC’s commitment to provide CPD and educational support to our practitioners. Some of the courses are also accredited for DOs, being the “Eyecare Services for People with a Learning Disability”, “Low Vision” and “Paediatrics” courses.

Please note, the CPD points are NOT interactive.

Further information can be found HERE.

Access codes, which are free to practicing Optoms and DOs who provide NHS GOS services within Hertfordshire, can be obtained by emailing the LOC at admin@HertsLOC.org.uk , where you can also direct any queries.

  3. CPD Webinar: Retinal Vein Occlusion”, 18 January 2024
Stacey Strong, one of our local Consultants working for West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (Watford General Hospital and St. Albans City Hospital) is presenting a webinar on ‘Retinal Vein Occlusion’ run by Clinica in London, on Thursday Jan 18th at 8pm. The registration form is HERE and further information on the speaker can be found HERE.
  4. Translation Service for NHS Patients
Although it has been sent to all contractors, we feel that the recent information sent by Herts and West Essex ICB about free translations services, when providing NHS (GOS) services, was worth making all practitioners aware of. Their email is at the bottom of this newsletter.
  5. FODO News
Is HERE including Collaborative Eye Care Awards, medical retina training that Roche are providing and RNIB & Science Museum team up to give families of children with vision impairment a fun, accessible day out.
  6.

Kind regards
