  1. Herts LOC / The Brain Tumour Charity CPD Webinar Monday 20th May

    Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to our online CPD event, “Effective Communication – Breaking Bad News”, in association with the excellent Brain Tumour Charity on Monday 20th May from 7:30.
    You will receive your Zoom link before the event.

    There will be three interactive points for all Optoms, CLOs and DOs, the domain being “Leadership and Accountability“.

    The presenter is Lorcan Butler, who is the charity’s Optical Engagement Manager. He has given this presentation in the past with numerous LOCs and travels extensively across the UK and Europe, talking at national and international optometric conferences.

  3. NHS 111 when calling as a Healthcare Professional

    LOCSU advise the following update: 
    Dear Colleagues,

    Please note that changes have been made to NHS 111 when calling as a Healthcare Professional, following an option being included for Mental Health.  Please note the changes below

    The Healthcare Professional option is now Option 3, then Option 3 again as follows:-

    ‘Thank you for calling NHS 111, Please press 9 to continue;

    • If your call is about physical health, Press 1
    • If you are in Mental Health Crisis Press 2
    • If you are a Healthcare Professional or Lab Technician Press 3
      • If you are ambulance crew, Press 1
      • If you are calling from a Care Home, Press 2
      • For any other Healthcare Professional Press 3’
  4. RNIB’s Living Well With Sight loss Parent Pathways

    “Parent Pathways” is part of RNIB’s Living Well with Sight Loss series. They say: “It is designed to give you the space to learn about and discuss some of the important questions that you might have about raising a child who is blind or partially sighted. It is open to parents or carers of children aged from birth to 25 years old.   6. CHEC Clinical Placement for the Independent Prescribing Course
    CHEC advise that they are launching their Clinical Placement offering for the Independent Prescribing Course. Applicants must have practiced in the UK and been registered with the GOC for at least two years before starting their clinical placement.
