  1. Sight Loss Support Survey
    One of our committee members is working with Hertfordshire County Council’s Sensory Services on the creation of an information leaflet about local support, resources and signposting, to distribute to adults in Hertfordshire with sight loss.

    As part of this, we would be grateful if you could let us know what resources and information is available to your patients.

  2. CPD Claims Window for Optometrists now OPEN
    PCSE advise that the window for CPD claims is now open and will remain so until Thursday 31 October 2024. They say “Performers are encouraged to start your claim at the earliest opportunity.”

  3. CPD Webinar: “Corneal Dystrophies – Diagnosis & Management”, Tuesday 16th July at 6:30pm.

    OCL Vision are running another webinar series,”Corneal Dystrophies – Diagnosis & Management” on Tuesday 16th July at 6:30pm, presented by Mr Ali Mearza, Director and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon.They advise that there is 1 interactive CPD point approved for this webinar (O, DO).

  4. Hypertension Pilot in Hatfield, Stevenage, Dacorum and Watford
    We recently advised that Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB is seeking expressions of interest from optometry practices to take part in an NHS England-funded pilot of hypertension case finding in optometry settings.  The closing date for Expressions of Interest is close of business on Friday, 5th July. 

    If you have any questions, please email admin@HertsLOC.org.uk and we will forward your query to the project lead.

    The aim of the pilot is to help to identify people with high blood pressure but without a current diagnosis.

    At this stage, the pilot is only open to practices in Hatfield, Stevenage, Dacorum and Watford. Please do not apply if your practice is not in one of these areas.

  6. FODO News
    Is HERE, including Eye care election themes emerge, King’s College trials novel eye treatment and GOC Council roundup. Their update from 21st June is HERE, including Technical changes to eGOS in England, Guardian reports on a ‘boom in cataract surgery’ and College publishes a six-month countdown to end of CPD cycle.
