MECS

MECS (Minor Eye Condition Service) is now live across the Central London NHS CCG.

To participate within this service you must have completed your MECS WOPEC accreditation.

Minor Eye Problems?

 If you have a recent problem with your eyes – such as sore eyes, red eyes or visual disturbance – and you are registered with a GP practice in Central London CCG  (London Borough of Westminster except Queens Park and Paddington), please PHONE one of the local Opticians listed below, for an initial assessment and appointment.

The key services included within the contract are:

  •   Cataract Pre referral assessment
  •   Glaucoma Referral Filtering
  •   Community Eye Service (CES)- MECS style services.

 

All Optometrists must have completed Accreditation and OSCEs for MECS and Glaucoma

KCWHF LOC are pleased to notify you that we have arranged OSCEs for MECS and Glaucoma.

Stage 1 must be completed prior to stage 2:
For WOPEC course codes and to reserve your place at the OSCEs, contact our CPD Officer, Sheena Patel by sending an email to kcwhfloc.cpd@gmail.com with:

Your full name
GOC number
Employment status (locum or employed)
The practice(s) / area(s) you work in (e.g. Kensington; e.g. Brent;)

Stage 2:
The OSCES will be free for all KCWHF practitioners (proof will be required)
To reserve your place, contact our CPD Officer, Sheena Patel, via kcwhfloc.cpd@gmail.com, proving the above details about yourself
⁠Optometrists outside of KCWHF who book onto our event will do so at their own cost and will be directed to WOPEC’s payment page.

WOPEC will notify us of these “external bookings” so we are aware of total number
