Liverpool and North Mersey Diabetic Eye Screening programmes merged on 1st October 2023.
The new telephone number for Liverpool & North Mersey Diabetic Eye Screening Programme is 0151 529 3111, however the old phone numbers will be diverted to this number. Patients may benefit from a greater choice of venue options but there is no plan to change the location of service provision.
The interval for screening patients who are at a lower risk of developing diabetic retinopathy will now be 2 years rather than annually. The implementation will be staggered over the next 2 years, therefore half of eligible patients will be initially recalled in 12 months with the other half in 2 years. Eligible patients are those with no retinopathy on 2 consecutive occasions at least 12 months apart.
