Optometry Engagment required – for the whole workforce

19 December 2024

The Primary Care Collaborative (PCC), supported by the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB), is developing a Primary Care Workforce Strategy. This strategy aims to address the challenges and opportunities across General Practice, Dentistry, Optometry, and Pharmacy that were identified as part of a scoping exercise in May – July this year.
Next Steps
To ensure this strategy truly reflects the voices of the entire primary care workforce, we are now entering the engagement phase and your input will be critical in shaping the future strategy.
  1. Engagement Events: We will be hosting a series of virtual sessions (January 2025) to explore and refine the key priorities identified during the scoping phase. These sessions will be interactive, with opportunities to share your experiences and ideas on Staffing Issues and Health and Wellbeing (Workshop 2A) and Developing Leaders, Access to Services and Opportunities for Change (Workshop 2B). We will be running each workshop on multiple dates to allow us to capture as much feedback as possible. Feel free to join one session of workshop 2a and 2b or whichever you feel appeals to your interests/job role. So please can you share this email with all Practice colleagues including Reception and Admin staff.
  2. Workplace Wellbeing Survey: Alongside the engagement sessions, we are conducting a Workplace Wellbeing Survey to better understand the working environment across primary care. Your anonymous feedback will be invaluable in shaping the discussions and ensuring the strategy addresses real challenges and opportunities. The survey only takes 5-10 minutes, and you can participate by following this link. Workforce Wellbeing Survey.
Why Your Voice Matters
This is your chance to ensure that the final strategy reflects the needs of the entire primary care workforce across General Practice, Dentistry, Optometry, or Pharmacy, your insights will help us create a strategy that is practical, inclusive, and impactful.
We encourage you to complete the Workplace Wellbeing Survey and begin thinking about the challenges and opportunities within your role and how we can work together to shape the future of primary care.
Thank you in advance for your support and participation in developing the workforce strategy that improves experience for our teams, our patients, and our communities.
