Walsall General Referral Guidelines
When referring patients to Walsall Manor Hospital the referral method has now transitioned to EeRS via Cinapsis. This will be supersede GOS18 via the GP. Wave-1 EeRS went live on 17th April, 2024 and all Walsall practices are now live as of 22nd May, 2024
Please note: When referring via Cinapsis the patients GP will receive a copy of the referral electronically. However, you cannot make a GP only referral on Cinapsis, you must use Gos 18.
Patients with neighbouring GPs may have alternative referral methods and/or pathways, please see the links below for neighbouring LOC and referral criteria.
There is no emergency eye care service at Walsall Manor Hospital, the nearest eye casualty will be New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton or BMEC, Birmingham.
Wolverhampton General Referral Guidelines
IMPORTANT: please read the Referral Guidelines V5 (April 2023) which includes email addresses.
On receipt at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary, the referral will be reviewed by a consultant according to the “Referral Assessment Service” protocol and prioritised according to the details in your letter. The RAS is effective if your letter is clear and contains reason for referral, relevant findings and a suggested clinic and priority.
EeRS referrals via Cinapsis to Wolverhampton has been delayed, further information will be provided when available.
